On Sunday 16th July 2017, Horrible Histories “Live On Stage” will be coming to Pembroke Castle with the hit show The Best of Barmy Britain. This will be a fantastic finale to our ‘Rock The Castle’ weekend.
You’ve read the books, you’ve seen the TV programme, now watch history in all its horrible glory come to life, live on stage!
It has been over twenty years since the Horrible Histories franchise catapulted itself into our schools and living rooms, making yawn-worthy yesteryear a thing of the past. Since Terry Deary first penned The Terrible Tudors and The Awful Egyptians, Horrible Histories have gone from strength to strength, from sticker books to appearing on our TV screens in CBBC’s BAFTA Children’s Award and British Comedy Award-winning series, and a BBC six-part series aimed at adults and hosted by Stephen Fry, and Deary remains one of the most popular living children’s author.
Now see Birmingham Stage Company’s world-touring stage performance of two thousand years of British History, right here in Pembroke Castle!
We all want to meet people from history. The trouble is everyone is dead!
So it’s time to prepare yourselves for Horrible Histories live on stage featuring all your favourite characters from Britain’s barmy past!
Could you beat battling Boudicca? Will King John be a martyr for the Magna Carta? Will you lose your heart or your head to Henry VIII? Can Parliament survive gunpowder Guy? Light up your life with the great fire of London! Stand and deliver to dastardly Dick Turpin? Escape the clutches of Burke and Hare and move to the groove with party Queen Victoria!
It’s the history of Britain with the nasty bits left in!
“As gleefully vulgar as a Roman poo stick! It’s perfectly horrid and my daughter loved it” – The Daily Mail
“If lessons were always like this, kids would be queuing up at the school gates every morning. Be thrilled!” – The Times
